Mehendi Festival Held by Srijonshil Gaibandha

A unique Mehendi Festival has been held in Gaibandha under the Initiative of the voluntary organization Srijonshil Gaibandha. The event was organized to highlight the beauty of culture and tradition and to promote cultural practices among young people.

The Mehendi Festival took place on Friday (20 March 2026) at the Gaibandha Municipal Park premises, where people of different ages—especially young men and women—participated enthusiastically, creating a festive atmosphere.

At the festival, volunteers applied beautifully designed mehendi on the hands of participants. In addition, free mehendi was applied to underprivileged women and children, spreading joy and a festive spirit among them.

Md. Mehedi Hasan, Founder and President of Srijonshil Gaibandha Foundation, said,
“We want to spread the practice of our traditional culture more widely among the youth. Mehendi is not just an ornament; it is an important part of our culture and festivals. Therefore, this Mehendi Festival has been organized by engaging the younger generation. In the future, Srijonshil Gaibandha will continue to take various initiatives for positive social change and the promotion of cultural practices.”

A young participant at the festival said,
“Such arrangements are truly আনন্দদায়ক. I had the opportunity to spend a wonderful time with friends while applying mehendi. What I liked most is that underprivileged children were also given mehendi. This has shared the joy of the festival with everyone.”

The organizers stated that many elements of our traditional culture are gradually disappearing from society. Therefore, this Mehendi Festival has been arranged to reintroduce these traditions to the younger generation and strengthen social harmony.

Local young volunteers actively participated in the event and played an important role in making it successful. The organizers expressed hope that Srijonshil Gaibandha will continue working to bring positive change in Gaibandha through such cultural and social initiatives in the future.


সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধার উদ্যোগে মেহেদী উৎসব অনুষ্ঠিত

গাইবান্ধায় স্বেচ্ছাসেবী সংগঠন সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা-এর উদ্যোগে ব্যতিক্রমধর্মী মেহেদী উৎসব অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। সংস্কৃতি ও ঐতিহ্যের সৌন্দর্যকে তুলে ধরা এবং তরুণদের মাঝে সাংস্কৃতিক চর্চা ছড়িয়ে দিতে এই আয়োজন করা হয়।

শুক্রবার (২০ মার্চ ২০২৬) গাইবান্ধা পৌর পার্ক প্রাঙ্গণে আয়োজিত এ মেহেদী উৎসবে বিভিন্ন বয়সী মানুষ, বিশেষ করে তরুণ-তরুণীদের স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত অংশগ্রহণে উৎসবমুখর পরিবেশের সৃষ্টি হয়।

উৎসবে আগতদের হাতে নান্দনিক নকশায় মেহেদী পরিয়ে দেন স্বেচ্ছাসেবীরা। পাশাপাশি সুবিধাবঞ্চিত নারী ও শিশুদের হাতে বিনামূল্যে মেহেদী পরিয়ে দেওয়া হয়, যা তাদের মাঝে আনন্দ ও উৎসবের আমেজ ছড়িয়ে দেয়।

সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা ফাউন্ডেশনের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ও সভাপতি মো. মেহেদী হাসান বলেন, “আমরা চাই তরুণদের মাঝে আমাদের ঐতিহ্যবাহী সংস্কৃতির চর্চা আরও বেশি ছড়িয়ে পড়ুক। মেহেদী শুধু একটি অলংকার নয়, এটি আমাদের সংস্কৃতি ও উৎসবের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ। তাই তরুণ প্রজন্মকে সম্পৃক্ত করে এই মেহেদী উৎসবের আয়োজন করা হয়েছে। ভবিষ্যতেও সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা সমাজের ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তন ও সাংস্কৃতিক চর্চা বৃদ্ধিতে নানা উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করবে।”

উৎসবে অংশগ্রহণকারী এক তরুণী বলেন, “এ ধরনের আয়োজন সত্যিই আনন্দের। এখানে এসে মেহেদী পরার পাশাপাশি বন্ধুদের সঙ্গে সুন্দর সময় কাটানোর সুযোগ পেয়েছি। সবচেয়ে ভালো লেগেছে সুবিধাবঞ্চিত শিশুদের হাতেও মেহেদী পরিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে। এতে উৎসবের আনন্দ সবার মাঝে ভাগাভাগি হয়েছে।”

আয়োজকরা জানান, আমাদের সমাজে ঐতিহ্যবাহী সংস্কৃতির বিভিন্ন উপাদান দিন দিন হারিয়ে যেতে বসেছে। তাই তরুণ প্রজন্মের মাঝে এসব ঐতিহ্যকে নতুনভাবে তুলে ধরতে এবং সামাজিক সম্প্রীতি জোরদার করতে এই মেহেদী উৎসবের আয়োজন করা হয়েছে।

অনুষ্ঠানে স্থানীয় তরুণ স্বেচ্ছাসেবীরা সক্রিয়ভাবে অংশগ্রহণ করেন এবং আয়োজনটি সফল করতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেন। আয়োজকরা আশা প্রকাশ করেন, ভবিষ্যতেও এ ধরনের সাংস্কৃতিক ও সামাজিক উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমে গাইবান্ধায় ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তন আনতে কাজ করে যাবে সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা।
