Youth-Led Environmental Awareness Program Held in Gaibandha

22 February 2026: With a strong commitment to building a climate-resilient and environmentally friendly society, a unique awareness initiative titled “Youth Led Community Awareness Program” was Held in Gaibandha. The program was organized in Nayanpur under the Gaibandha Sadar upazila as part of the initiative “Gaibandha EcoCycle: Youth Innovation for Flood-Resilient Green Economy.”

Centered around the theme “Youth Are the Power of Change,” the event emphasized preventing plastic pollution, promoting responsible consumption, and encouraging eco-friendly lifestyles. With the key message “Not Plastic, but Conscious Use for a Greener Future,” young volunteers actively engaged local community members to raise widespread awareness.

As part of the program, youth volunteers distributed leaflets, conducted awareness discussions, and carried out direct outreach campaigns. They highlighted the harmful impacts of plastic pollution, the risks of single-use plastics, and practical alternatives for environmentally friendly living. In addition, discussions were held with local residents on sustainable initiatives in flood-prone areas, recycling practices, and the potential of a green economy.

The organizers stated that active youth participation is crucial in addressing the challenges of climate change. Such initiatives play a significant role in increasing environmental awareness at the grassroots level and promoting sustainable development.

The program was organized by Srijonshil Gaibandha, with co-organization support from National Youth Forum Bangladesh and collaboration from VSO Bangladesh.

২২ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২৬: জলবায়ু সহনশীল ও পরিবেশবান্ধব সমাজ গড়ার প্রত্যয়ে গাইবান্ধায় অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে “Youth Led Community Awareness Program” শীর্ষক এক ব্যতিক্রমী সচেতনতামূলক কার্যক্রম। “Gaibandha EcoCycle: Youth Innovation for Flood-Resilient Green Economy” উদ্যোগের অংশ হিসেবে গাইবান্ধা উপজেলার নয়ানপুরে এ কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করা হয়।
“তরুণরাই পরিবর্তনের শক্তি” এই প্রতিপাদ্যকে সামনে রেখে আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানে প্লাস্টিক দূষণ রোধ, সচেতন ব্যবহার এবং পরিবেশবান্ধব জীবনযাপনের ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করা হয়। “প্লাস্টিক নয়, সচেতন ব্যবহারেই সবুজ ভবিষ্যৎ” এই বার্তাকে কেন্দ্র করে তরুণ স্বেচ্ছাসেবীরা স্থানীয় জনগণের মাঝে ব্যাপক সচেতনতা সৃষ্টি করেন।
কর্মসূচির অংশ হিসেবে তরুণরা লিফলেট বিতরণ, সচেতনতামূলক আলোচনা সভা এবং সরাসরি প্রচারণা পরিচালনা করেন। তারা প্লাস্টিকের ক্ষতিকর প্রভাব, একবার ব্যবহারযোগ্য প্লাস্টিকের ঝুঁকি এবং এর পরিবেশবান্ধব বিকল্প ব্যবহারের উপায় তুলে ধরেন। পাশাপাশি বন্যাপ্রবণ অঞ্চলে টেকসই উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ, পুনর্ব্যবহার (রিসাইক্লিং) এবং সবুজ অর্থনীতির সম্ভাবনা নিয়ে স্থানীয়দের সঙ্গে মতবিনিময় করা হয়।
আয়োজকরা জানান, জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের ঝুঁকি মোকাবিলায় তরুণদের সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণ অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। এ ধরনের উদ্যোগ স্থানীয় পর্যায়ে পরিবেশ সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি ও টেকসই উন্নয়নে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে।
উল্লেখ্য, কর্মসূচিটি আয়োজন করে সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধা। কো-অর্গানাইজার হিসেবে ছিল NYF Bangladesh এবং সহযোগিতায় ছিল VSO Bangladesh।
