‘Gaibandha EcoCycle’ Project Introduction and Awareness Meeting Held in Kamarjani Union

On January 22, 2026, at the Kamarjani Union Parishad, an introduction and awareness meeting for the project titled ‘Gaibandha EcoCycle: Youth Innovation for Flood-Resilient Green Economy’ was organized by Srijonshil Gaibandha. The important meeting was attended by local administration, responsible officials, elected representatives, and representatives from various social organizations including members of Srijonshil Gaibandha.

Present at the meeting were Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer of the Department of Disaster Management in Gaibandha; Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Riyazul Islam; Chairman of Kamarjani Union Parishad Md. Motiar Rahman; members of the Union Parishad; social workers and UDC representatives; as well as Srijonshil Gaibandha’s President Md. Mehedi Hasan and Project Officer Tuba Rahman among others.

Speakers at the meeting elaborated on the main objectives and goals of the project. The project primarily aims to promote youth-led, environment-friendly, and green economy-based innovative initiatives in the flood-prone areas of Gaibandha, increase local community awareness, and ensure sustainable development.

Special emphasis was placed on the reuse and proper management of plastic and other wastes. The project highlights reducing plastic pollution to ensure a healthier environment and climate, while engaging youth in making plastic waste useful and raising social awareness. Special initiatives will be taken to encourage local people to control plastic use, transform areas into waste-free zones, and promote recycling-based activities.

Md. Mehedi Hasan, President of Srijonshil Gaibandha, said, “This project is very important for a flood-resilient green economy in Gaibandha. By activating the youth, we will advance towards environmentally friendly and sustainable development. Reducing plastic pollution through youth participation and awareness is also our key commitment. We strongly believe that with local cooperation, Gaibandha can be developed as a climate-resilient district.”

Md. Motiar Rahman, Chairman of Kamarjani Union Parishad, said, “This project marks a new horizon for our area. Besides flood management, the active role of youth in tackling plastic pollution will have a multifaceted impact on rural development. We will fully support the efforts of Srijonshil Gaibandha.”

Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer of the Department of Disaster Management, Gaibandha, said,
“Sustainable development and youth-led initiatives in flood-affected areas are the demand of the present time. This project by Srijonshil Gaibandha will play an effective role in improving the lives of local people.”

All attendees unanimously assured that such initiatives will empower the youth of Gaibandha and create long-term, sustainable impacts at the local level in flood management and plastic pollution reduction. The meeting proved to be a successful and fruitful platform expected to play a vital role in local partnership and awareness enhancement for project implementation.



কামারজানি ইউনিয়নে ‘গাইবান্ধা ইকোসাইকেল’ প্রকল্প পরিচিতি ও সচেতনতা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত

২২ জানুয়ারি ২০২৬, কামারজানি ইউনিয়ন পরিষদে সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধার উদ্যোগে অনুষ্ঠিত হলো ‘গাইবান্ধা ইকোসাইকেল: বন্যা–সহনশীল সবুজ অর্থনীতির পথে যুব উদ্ভাবন’ প্রকল্পের পরিচিতি ও সচেতনতা সভা। এই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সভায় স্থানীয় প্রশাসন, দায়িত্বশীল কর্মকর্তাগণ, জনপ্রতিনিধি এবং সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধার কর্মকর্তাসহ বিভিন্ন সামাজিক সংগঠনের প্রতিনিধি উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

সভায় দুর্যোগ ব্যবস্থাপনা অধিদপ্তরের গাইবান্ধা জেলা ত্রাণ ও পুনর্বাসন কর্মকর্তা মোহাম্মদ শফিকুল ইসলাম, উপজেলা প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়ন অফিসার মোঃ রিয়াজুল ইসলাম, কামারজানি ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান মোঃ মতিয়ার রহমান, ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের সদস্যরা, সমাজকর্মী ও ইউডিসি প্রতিনিধিরা এবং সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধার সভাপতি মোঃ মেহেদী হাসান ও প্রজেক্ট অফিসার তুবা রহমানসহ অনেকে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

সভায় বক্তারা প্রকল্পের মূল উদ্দেশ্য ও লক্ষ্য সম্পর্কে বিস্তারিত তুলে ধরেন। বন্যা–ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ গাইবান্ধা অঞ্চলে যুব নেতৃত্বাধীন পরিবেশবান্ধব ও সবুজ অর্থনীতির ভিত্তিতে উদ্ভাবনী উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ, স্থানীয় জনগণের সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি এবং টেকসই উন্নয়ন নিশ্চিত করাই প্রকল্পের মূল উদ্দেশ্য।

বিশেষ করে প্লাস্টিক ও অন্যান্য বর্জ্যের পুনর্ব্যবহার এবং সঠিক ব্যবস্থাপনা নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হয়। প্লাস্টিক দূষণ কমিয়ে পরিবেশ ও জলবায়ুর জন্য স্বাস্থ্যকর পরিবেশ নিশ্চিত করার পাশাপাশি, তরুণদের অংশগ্রহণে প্লাস্টিক বর্জ্যকে উপযোগী করে তোলা ও সামাজিক সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধিতে প্রকল্পটি গুরুত্বারোপ করেছে। স্থানীয় জনগণকে প্লাস্টিক ব্যবহারে নিয়ন্ত্রণ, বর্জ্য শূন্য এলাকায় রূপান্তর এবং পুনর্ব্যবহারযোগ্য উদ্যোগে উদ্বুদ্ধ করার জন্য বিশেষ উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হবে।

সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধার সভাপতি মোঃ মেহেদী হাসান বলেন, “গাইবান্ধার বন্যা-সহনশীল সবুজ অর্থনীতির জন্য এই প্রকল্পটি অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। আমরা যুবসমাজকে সক্রিয় করে পরিবেশবান্ধব ও টেকসই উন্নয়নের পথে এগিয়ে যাবো। প্লাস্টিক দূষণ রোধে তরুণদের অংশগ্রহণ ও সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধিও আমাদের মূল অঙ্গীকার। স্থানীয়দের সহযোগিতায় গাইবান্ধাকে জলবায়ু-সহনশীল জেলা হিসেবে গড়ে তোলা সম্ভব হবে বলে আমরা দৃঢ় বিশ্বাস করি।”

কামারজানি ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান মোঃ মতিয়ার রহমান বলেন, “এই প্রকল্প আমাদের এলাকার জন্য একটি নতুন দিগন্তের সূচনা। বন্যার পাশাপাশি প্লাস্টিক দূষণ মোকাবিলায় যুবসমাজের সক্রিয় ভূমিকা গ্রাম উন্নয়নে বহুমুখী প্রভাব ফেলবে। আমরা সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধার প্রয়াসকে সর্বাত্মক সহযোগিতা করবো।”

দুর্যোগ ব্যবস্থাপনা অধিদপ্তরের গাইবান্ধা জেলা ত্রাণ ও পুনর্বাসন কর্মকর্তা মোহাম্মদ শফিকুল ইসলাম বলেন, “বন্যা প্রভাবিত এলাকায় টেকসই উন্নয়ন এবং যুব নেতৃত্বাধীন উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ আজকের সময়ের দাবি। সৃজনশীল গাইবান্ধার এই প্রকল্প স্থানীয় জনগণের জীবনমান উন্নয়নে কার্যকর ভূমিকা রাখবে।”

সভায় উপস্থিতরা একযোগে আশ্বাস দেন, এই ধরনের উদ্যোগ গাইবান্ধার যুব সমাজকে সক্ষম করে তুলবে এবং বন্যা মোকাবিলায় ও প্লাস্টিক দূষণ রোধে স্থানীয় পর্যায়ে দীর্ঘমেয়াদি ও টেকসই প্রভাব বিস্তার করবে। সভাটি ছিল একটি সফল ও ফলপ্রসূ প্ল্যাটফর্ম, যা প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়নে স্থানীয় অংশীদারিত্ব ও সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধিতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে প্রত্যাশা করা হয়।
