“Engaging Local CSGs for Volunteerism & Global Volunteer Standards (GVS)” Session Held in Gaibandha

To highlight the importance of volunteerism in community development and strengthen the capacity to implement volunteer activities according to international standards, a session titled “Engaging Local CSGs for Volunteerism & Global Volunteer Standards (GVS)” was held in Gaibandha. The session took place on Thursday (12 March 2026) at the Deshi Bhoj Meeting Room, New Market area of Gaibandha. The event was organized by VSO Bangladesh in collaboration with Srijonshil Gaibandha.

Colorful Clothes and Eid Food Items Distributed Among Underprivileged Children in Gaibandha

Members of the Gaibandha Prothom Alo Bondhushava distributed new colorful clothes among 51 underprivileged children on Wednesday noon and later distributed vermicelli (semai) and sugar among 10 poor families in the afternoon. With the support of the voluntary organization Srijonshil Gaibandha Foundation, the members arranged the distribution program at the railway station slum area of Gaibandha town by saving money from their own Eid expenses.

National Volunteer of VSO Bangladesh Visits Gaibandha EcoCycle Project

Ms. Umme Habiba, National Volunteer of the Inclusion and Participatory Practice Department of VSO Bangladesh, conducted a field visit on 4 March 2025 (Wednesday) to the project titled “Gaibandha EcoCycle: Youth Innovation for a Flood-Resilient Green Economy.” During the visit, she toured Goghat and Karaibari villages under Kamarjani Union of Gaibandha Sadar Upazila. She observed the compost production initiatives and vegetable gardens established by local youth groups and exchanged views with project participants and beneficiaries.

Climate Dialogue and Experience Sharing Meeting Held in Gaibandha

A “Climate Dialogue and Experience Sharing Meeting” was held in Gaibandha Sadar Upazila on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, at 11:00 AM at the conference room of the Upazila Parishad. The event was organized by Srijonshil Gaibandha under the project titled “Gaibandha EcoCycle: Youth Innovation for a Flood-Resilient Green Economy.” It was co-organized by the National Youth Forum (NYF) with support from VSO Bangladesh. The dialogue focused on the local impacts of climate change, plastic pollution and waste management, production of eco-friendly products, and the role of youth in addressing climate challenges. Speakers highlighted that Gaibandha, a northern district, faces recurring floods, river erosion, and other environmental crises almost every year. Climate change has significantly affected local livelihoods, agriculture, and the overall environment.
